Worry Is a Case For Faith
A Journey to Better
Our modern, technologically advanced lives seem to be full of obligations and multitasking. Even when we aren’t fulfilling commitments, we seem to find things to keep ourselves busy. In this mode of trying to stay occupied, we seem to worry and feel anxiety when there’s nothing left to do. This hyper-connected world we live in has us always thinking, “What else?” Our personal and professional lives aren’t about what we are doing but what we aren’t doing or what we’re missing. Well, for all of us that fall into this never-ending cycle there’s something we are missing…relief. The comfort we seek can be found in faith.
Faith is Surrender
People vary in their feelings about faith and surrender. Many people feel the word surrender is synonymous with giving up. But the concept of surrender can also mean freeing or letting go of the burden. Giving up or giving in position surrender as weakness, but when we make surrender about faith, it becomes a strength.
“Something amazing happens when we surrender and just love. We melt into another world, a realm of power already within us. The world changes when we change. the world softens when we soften. The world loves us when we choose to love the world.” ― Marianne Williamson
Bigger is Better
Faith doesn’t have to be restricted to theology, but when realized to its full potential, belief is a powerful tool in coping with life as any I’ve ever known. The stress and anxiety one feels about the world, and one’s position in it melts away with the realization that there’s something larger at work.
“Believe something and the Universe is on its way to being changed. Because you’ve changed by believing. Once you’ve changed, other things start to follow. Isn’t that the way it works?” ― Diane Duane
We all have trust in something, but it’s trust in something bigger than ourselves and something positive that is where conviction becomes beautiful. Bigger is better when you realize attaching yourself to every twist and turn of life isn’t necessary. When you focus your attention on an appreciation of all this world has to offer and the broader perspective of God, love, good, etc., you’re less likely to let the bumps in the road become obstacles.
Embrace (Fill-in The Blank)
“You do not need to know precisely what is happening, or exactly where it is all going. What you need is to recognize the possibilities and challenges offered by the present moment, and to embrace them with courage, faith, and hope.” ― Thomas Merton
I’m not advocating for a specific religion or theology in general. Still, life’s journey is far more peaceful and bountiful when you can wrap your mind around the concept of faith. This ever-connected world is full of misdirection and misinformation; facts are hard to come by. Allow yourself to be grounded in something that provides you a broader answer to “What else?” BELIEVE.
